I got a behind the scenes look at a large ad agency my senior year in college. It was awesome. There is a hug difference between the creative floor and the accounts floor - that's for sure. The creative floor was awesome. Totally awesome. One cool story is when they told us how creative teams work.
The creatives are divided up into teams of two. There is one copywriter and one artist. That's it. When the agency gets an RFP or needs to produce a campaign, they pin about 3 teams of two against each other. The teams get about 3 days to come up with a cool advertising pitch.
The teams then get to pitch the creative director and he chooses the winning campaign. This is very cool and very cut-throat. If you go on a cold streak, it would stink.
Anyways, thought this would be a cool story for all you advertising internship searchers!
